Eva Hess Thaysen

Eva Hess Thaysen, associate professor and head of studies at The Royal Danish Academy of Music. Made her debut as an opera singer in 1988. Until 2004 she sang more than 40 roles on stage, primarily at The Danish National Opera. She has been a soloist with all Danish symphony orchestras and with The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and Malmö Symphony Orchestra. She has recorded a number of CD’s with several of these orchestras. She has also been very active within experimental music and performance theatre in Denmark as well as abroad.

The Lied-genre has always been a matter of the heart for EHT, and as the president of The Danish Song Society since 2000 she has worked on the development and dissemination of the genre in Denmark. In 2005 EHT returned to her alma mater to do a Masters in elite voice pedagogy and since then she has focused her work on the teaching of young singers, a.o. at The Bel Canto Institute in Florence where she this year celebrates her 10th anniversary as a member of  the voice faculty.
